Yeah the Drywallers!!!

Took a little vaca to Cali. With the cousins at Magic Mountain...lots of fun but so crowded we got on 4 rides in 8 hours!

Well the drywallers came and started yesterday so its looking like actual rooms!

Dont those canned lights look good reflecting off the hall walls...good call Uncle Don :o)

Even more drywall...in the master bedroom looking towards the walk in closet.
The boys...Chris, Trav, Heath and Broccoli taking a lunch break under one of the big trees.

Insulation Time

The plumbers came and replaced pipes, moved pipes and installed our new shower.
Where the fernace is now...out in the laundry room which will be much quieter.

The spray foam insulation was put in on Monday, its a hard foam that seals the walls so mice, spiders etc cant get in. Kitchen View.

Smaller bathroom with foam insulation. We also realized that the tub was cast iron so we are keeping it, tile the walls and have the tub refinished and it will be like new!

The foam in the front bedroom, the new pipes for the large bedroom and some fiberglass insulation for some sound proofing.

Electrical Electrical Oh My

Uncle Don came and rewired the entire house, put up canned lights and worked so hard. He had some great suggestions on the layout of the house, lights, outlets etc. Uncle Don is the shiznit and we cant thank him enough...we can sleep well at night knowing it was done by a professional.

The newly wired electrical panel nicely labeled.

The new walls with the new electrical wires from Uncle Don and Heath.

We had the furnace taken out and cleaned and we also moved it by many suggestions to the laundry room.

The hole left where the fernace used to be...now its extra room for the bathroom...good idea Ron...or as I call him the Roninator!

Dryrot and Petrified Mice!

Well its been a while but dont fret we have been working away on the house and have made alot of progress.

Tore out some drywall to do new electrical wiring and frame the new closet and look at the great insulation I found...packing peanuts and if you look near the top of the wall you can see formed foam like what comes in boxes of electronics...nice!

Ripping out the ceiling in the laundry room, it was once again nasty.

The dried up petrified mouse literally stuck to the ceiling proves that!

Ripped out the old bathroom floor and found some nice dryrot around the toilet.

Replacing floor joists in the other bathroom from dryrot.

New Walls & Oh the Nails!

Look at the wall I took down today!

Oh all the nails to remove...I think someone is coming in at night and putting more in, they always seem to pop up!

The new wall for the large bathroom and back bedroom, wall just to the left will be torn down.

Barb shop vacing...thanks Barb!

Heath framing away...the new bathroom closet.

Closet & Wiring

Learned to use the saws-all today to open up the wall and expose the old wiring...it was fun!

Finished results.

One of the piles of wire pulled.

Pulling down the old closet wall to make the master closet even bigger...dont be jelous its going to be 8x10!!!

Awesome Shoes!

We are getting there...now time to rip out the nails in all the walls and ceilings, vacuum all the beams and remove the old wiring.

Took out the old framing of the bathroom door and bedroom and bathroom closets.

Taking out the toilet in the rental...awesome shoes!!!

Replacing the trusses in the ceiling.

New bedroom wall up...the old wall coming down.

Gone Is The Ceiling

So we have been very busy the last week with the house and I am teaching my weekend intense classes, I have not posted any updates but here you go. We are working our butts off figurativly and we are hoping actually!

Ripping out the old bathroom floors... the old tub and toilet are already gone.

Ripping down the ceilings in the addition and we found lots of treats from all the mice that had lived up in the insulation...luckely the insulation and the mice are gone.

All the insulation ripped out.

Even more insulation...I dont think its supposed to be that color or deteriorating!

No its not a war zone...just a remodel!

Fire!

We had a very eventful evening last night, there was a huge fire on the hill next to our house. It was super windy which was not a good element and it was spreading fast. It was moving so fast at one point that I got together all of our pictures etc just in case. The horse ranch at the bottom of the hill brought in horse trailer semi's to haul away their horses.

Luckly at about 3am it started to rain and it helped with the fire. It is now smoldering in a few places and there is a helicopter going up to check for hot spots. It was a crazy evening and it makes you really realize what is important in your house!

Parental Help & a Day Off!!!

Heath's parents came over to help on the house...it was such a help.

Ron worked on the main house powerwashing and it looks like a freshly sided house and the windows he cleaned are fabulous...you might even walk thru the slider its so clean and let me emphasize how dirty they were, he had to go over the house 3 times and give those windows a good scrub.

Jean worked on the rental...it needed some serious weeding and pruning over there, its looking alot better and will be ready for renters in no time!

We decided to take the 4th off and get some good lake time in, it was 100 in E-burg on Friday and the 80's over on the west side was great. It was much needed! Did some swimming and tubing with the girls, Heather and Doug, had BBQ with the fam, Amber and Jaylynn came up for a swim and Jaylynn has no fear of water jumping right off the dock.

Went over to Trav's and Crystals for a great fireworks show...their neighboorhood puts on a heck of a show and you can see all the boys (of all ages) playing with the fireworks, lighting off the fireworks in a bucket of water was a big hit and quite entertaining.

The fireworks show right above us, we literally had to brush off all the pieces from the blown up fireworks...good times!

Insulation

Ripping down the pressed board ceiling there was nasty insulation and so much more!

Heath got his technique down...the wheelbarrow under the deconstruction was a great idea.

The "insulation" had 2 types of insulation, styrofoam popcorn and kitty litter...nice!

There were many friends living above the back bathroom...they left all their treats for us to pick up...AKA mouse poop.

We are being good and wearing resporators and you can see how much they collect...that disc was white when he began...once again nasty!
